House of the Dead: OverkillHouse of the Dead: Overkill by Inc. Sega Of America
Buy new: $23.99 / Used from: $11.94
Hilarious grindhouse atmosphere oozes from this rail-shooter. Not for children or adults with delicate sensibilities, Overkill crosses every line it can find with abandon. Although the primary mechanic of the game (aiming) is poorly implemented, the rest of the game is so good that you can look past the poor control--an issue that is normally insurmountable.
House of the Dead 2 & 3 ReturnHouse of the Dead 2 & 3 Return
Buy new: $15.09 / Used from: $8.92
Not as brilliantly atmospheric as Overkill, HotD 2 & 3 is a collection of ports of the arcade games. Solid light-gun action with an undead theme.
Ghost SquadGhost Squad
Buy new: $13.21 / Used from: $3.00
Another light-gun game from Sega, this time with a sepcial ops theme. Ghost Squad features branching paths to add replay value.
Perfect Shot for Wii (Colors May Vary)Perfect Shot for Wii (Colors May Vary)
Buy new: $8.82 / Used from: $6.38
A great companion to the various light-gun games available on the Wii. They're cheap, so get two for John Woo-style two-fisted action.
OkamiOkami
Buy new: $16.03 / Used from: $11.25
The orginal Okami for PS2 is a masterpiece that was unfortunately damaged in the port to the Wii. The filter that made the game look like a traditional Japanese rice-paper painting in motion is gone and poorly-implemented motion-controls have been crammed in. Still, if you don't have access to a PS2 to play the definitive version, enough of the magic is left in this port to make it worthwhile.
MadWorldMadWorld
Buy new: $7.42 / Used from: $3.89
What the Wii lacks in horsepower, Madworld makes up for in style. Motion controls here are used more tastefully than most Wii games, and the constant play-by-play by Greg Proops and John DiMaggio will keep you laughing.
Muramasa: The Demon BladeMuramasa: The Demon Blade
Buy new: $10.76 / Used from: $8.48
The Wii may not be HD-capable, but the lovingly-rendered art of Muramasa will still wow you. Not just easy to look at, there's also no foced waggle in Muramasa--you can play the entire game with the classic Controller!
Wii Classic ControllerWii Classic Controller
Buy new: $31.97 / Used from: $12.60
If you're going to play classic games on the Virtual Console, you owe it to yourself to play them with a decent controller.
