You'll need it for all math and some science courses. The TI-84 comes in silver (cheaper) if you aren't a fan of pink. I think a good deal on the TI-84 model is about a hundred.

Take pictures of those classroom models. Take pictures through the microscope. Take pictures of the art. Pictures are great notes and study material. I have this one and I love it! Don't forget a case to protect it that will also hold extra batteries because it is a big battery hog! I use a program called irfanview to label parts with words within the picture and that helps a lot.

Really you want a tablet to carry around but tablets are still too new to be priced right or to have all the features that people would like.

Printer paper & ink are big recurring expenses. Don't forget to go to your school library & use your printing allowance 1st.(can be anywhere from 20pages-300pages a semester)

The best pencil sharpener ever. People still have this brand 20 years later. I just sharpen a whole pack of pencils ea quarter & place them all in a 3-ring binder pencil pouch. I always have something to write with. There is not always a sharpener in every classroom & the professor will shoot you dirty looks if you use it.

Here is another item I really splurged on. I'm way more organized because of a workhorse 3-hole punch. Professor's handouts can be book thick. Everything in a 3ring binder is the easiest way to keep up & stay organized. No more lost homework. I like this model the best because mechanically it's the simplest & strongest

College makes you crazy! Without fail I can never find my phone, backpack, keys, etc when I'm the most pressed for time.

For when you absolutely positively must be awake in two hours and just can't risk oversleeping. There is another version if pink hearts aren't your style. Deafeningly loud and shakes your pillow to awaken

Write or surf the net from bed. I like a lap desk with built in wrist support which is something you can't live without once you get used to it.

Because I didn't spend $40k on tuition I get my own internet enabled big screen lcd tv. I use this to watch a lot of videos related to my subject matter. Check your schools website & you may find the lectures are available to stream.

Workouts on Wii that are really fun. I love this one and use it more then any other game. I like Just Dance too.

A super cool charger for the wii remotes. No taking off the jacket or trying to get 2 points on the bottom to match up. Just lay it on there & a magnet holds it in place perfectly and charges up through the casing. I feel like this rechargeable battery was worth it but not the wii board recharger because this kills the warranty; a new remote is pretty cheap but a new board is $100
